For PC student-athletes, winning is in the details.

The slight adjustment in your kick to make the ball curve into the net. The precise degree of your arm for a lay-up that makes the perfect swoosh. The exact pace of your breathing that leaves enough energy for the final sprint.

Through state-of-the-art player tracking vests for our varsity athletes, PC is taking this commitment to sports performance and wellness to the next level.

Friar athletics recently invested in 23 PlayerTek devices that allow PC’s men’s soccer coaches and staff to monitor player performance during practices. Each vest contains a GPS device that collects information about distance, speed, sprints, and intensity during a workout.

Coach Craig Stewart said the staff purchased the devices for use beginning in the fall 2018 season following injuries to several players the year before. By monitoring player stress and fatigue, the team can help minimize the risk of injury. The vests can be worn under or over jerseys.
